upon a shared earth

Upon A Shared  Earth (Et Libertatem Omnibus), 2020

Upon A Shared Earth, 2020, digital duotone c-print on Fuji archival paper, 20x30" (edition of 10)

Summer 2020,

in the midst of protest and civil unrest,

in the need for action

in the spirit of Romanticism,

in the context of a conflicted zeitgeist.

Lucid visions without words,

in reverence to all,

in allegiance to an elusive ideal,

in confrontation of a reality difficult to face

in facing a history that tells us so.

Pictures that mimic educational posters,

in differences and divisional sections,

in segregated spaces that divide,

in calling for reason,

in unity and solidarity

Symbolic objects of empathy, understanding and concern,

in butterflies of metamorphosis, change and enlightened consciousness

in bracelets of unity, fraternity and inter-connection,

in globes of earthly peace and universal liberty,

in Dahjae and Frances.

Existence on a shared earth,

in self awareness,

in otherness,

in spaces inclusive,

in wealth redefined,

in politics cleansed.

Life on a transient plane,

in oscillating motion,

in chaotic order,

in stability ever-changing,

in fate unpredictable,

in reality becoming,

in futures shaped by hope and possibility.
